Our mission
Arizona deserves honest, fearless local news.
The Sonoran Times was founded in 2011 by a team of working journalists who believed the greater Phoenix area was underserved by both national outlets and a shrinking local press. We cover city hall, courtrooms, school boards, new businesses, and the cultures that make the Valley one of the most dynamic places in the country.
We are reader-supported and advertiser-transparent. Every significant advertiser relationship is disclosed. We have never spiked a story for commercial reasons, and we never will.
Our newsroom operates under the Society of Professional Journalists Code of Ethics and is a member of the Arizona Press Club and the Institute for Nonprofit News.
